City's Future Plan / Vision 2030

The city of Cuttack has become an epicenter of growing economy with huge investment in different sectors. Rise in purchasing power of people, expansion of IT sector, investment, rich cultural resources and progressive government policies is making Cuttack city more attractive. These positive trends are being reflected in the urbanization pattern of neighboring towns of Bhubaneswar, Khurda, Jatani and Choudwar.

However, the five urban centres and adjoining rural hinterland comprising the BCUC at present are at varying levels of development. In order to transform Bhubaneswar Cuttack Urban Complex (BCUC) into a leading destination in terms of investment with world-class infrastructure and quality of life, it is essential to uplift the BCUC to the status of a state Capital region – a vibrant, world class city.

It has been estimated that the population of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Urban Complex will rise to the tune of 42 lakhs in the year 2030. The region as a whole is emerging as an urban complex of much promise. In order to accommodate such huge population, a major boost in the various sectors of development is required. This implies improved infrastructure and services, increased employment opportunities, shelter for all, health and hygiene along with social amenities that can assure better quality of life to the people.

The perspective plan Vision 2030 is a blue print for achieving these targets. It aims at framing detail strategies for resources allocation, phasing of development and identifying institutional mechanism for managing future development in a sustainable manner.
