Cuttack City is situated in between two major rivers i.e. Mahanadi and Kathajodi, as such its geographical expansion towards north and south is limited.

The Population of the city has been increased considerably during the last few decades. To provide residential and commercial facilities to the increased demand of population, a High level committee under the Chairmanship of R.D.C. ( CD), Cuttack was constituted with reference to Revenue Department, Memo No. 3441/ R/dt. 14.8.83 regarding extension of Cuttack city. The above Branches have been assigned with specific subjects under the sole control of the Vice-Chairman who is a whole time Member and Ex-Official President of the Authority. A section is a unit in a Branch-in-Charge of a Section Officer.
